to achieve their dream for the Finals.Many doubted their chances to make it to the final after losing the opening match to Switzerland. But they claimed their place in the finals beating Honduras, Chile, Portugal, Paraguay, and Germany. It was hard for them to win over Germany, the three-time World Cup winners. Spain won the European Championships in 2008.But for Germans it is shocking defeat to Spain, as they made impressive victories against England and Argentina. The Oranje are through to the final after beating Uruguay 3-2 at The Green Point Sports Stadium Cape Town. Netherlands is the one and only team to win all the matches played, in World Cup 2010.They beat Slovakia 2-1 in the round of 16 and Brazil( 2-1) in the quarters. Netherlands has been to the World Cup Final twice before and it is for the first time Holland qualifies for the finals after 1978 (Argentina defeated Netherlands in the finals).
Along with Forlan, Maxi Pereira was able to keep Uruguay in the match with a goal in the 90th minute. But, Pereira’s goal was not enough to defend Netherlands with three goals from Bronckhurst ,Snejder, and Arjen Robben .The Uruguayan fans are proud as they made a stunning performance in the World Cup where England, France and Italy failed miserably.
Interestingly, both teams have never won the World Cup. Also they are the first ever European team to win the FIFA World Cup outside of Europe
